A 3m long solid oak sideboard on a bespoke powder coated steel leg frame. The sideboard houses the TV equipment and a large sound bar. The open slatted fronts allow sound and the infra red controls to pass through.

A large wall hung sideboard from oak face birch ply with a Desktop Lino surface. This was part of a larger project that included a under stair storage wall.

The most popular item of free standing furniture we get asked to make are bespoke contemporary sideboards. These are pieces of furniture that people are happy to invest in knowing that they are built to last both in terms of construction and style.

They are all made to the exact specification of each client with no restriction on size or material. There can be any combination of drop down doors, concealed pocket doors or drawers. We always use the best quality fittings including 40kg soft close drawer runners.

The low sideboard shown here is from solid oak with lino fronted doors. There are 2 drop down doors for larger items and 2 drawers.

Slatted door fronts can be incorporated into the sideboard design to house TV and stereo equipment. The infra red controllers work through the slats and the open structure provides ventilation for the electrical equipment.

low, seat height sideboards can be supplied with upholstered seat pads to any size like the example shown below.

Ordering a Bespoke Sideboard:

Based on your sketch or description we develop a design that you are happy with both practically and visually. We provide you with detailed dimensioned drawings including internal sizes so you can be sure everything that you want to put in your sideboard will fit. We can allow for concealed cable management and cable holes in the top of the sideboard if needed. The cable holes are concealed by matching covers to maintain a unified top surface.

Once the final design has been approved your sideboard will be hand made in our workshop.
When complete we will arrange to deliver and put it in place ourselves. We always like to meet our customers and delivering ourselves means that the sideboard arrives in perfect condition.

The timescale from intial design through to delivery is usually 6-8 weeks

Please email us with your requirements and we would be happy to give you a cost estimate.

The sideboard opposite is cantilevered off the wall creating an elegant lightness and enhancing the link with the cupboard above. Solid oak has been used for cupboard walls and shelves and for sideboard top and drawer fronts providing a feel of quality and warmth and connecting with the oak parquet flooring and other furniture in the room. Painted surfaces enhance the warm colour of the wood and break up the surfaces thus reducing the impact of the large furniture pieces. The wall behind is painted in matching emulsion tying the group of elements together into one composition.

Tandem Studio recognised the challenge to improve our living room arrangements in the first meeting and came up with an interesting but simple alternative. We admire the thorough execution, the practical use of sustainable materials and the prompt delivery abroad where the furniture was installed quickly and accurately on site. The sideboard has become a gem in our home. It is a pleasure to look at it and use every day.

Georg Stoll, client

An oak faced birch ply sideboard with lino fronted doors. The client wanted to use it as a seat so the front edge is strengthened with steel concealed behind the recessed handle detail.

The bespoke sideboard opposite was designed with 2 solid wood shelving elements. The long drawer front pulls out 2 drawer boxes and is the same width as the shelving above creating a considered composition. The wall behind was painted a bold colour to compliment the rich tone of the wood.
